Our client faced the challenge of efficiently tracking the status of numerous tests spanning weeks or even months. Additionally, accessing the latest updates required locating a technician familiar with each test, leading to delays and communication gaps. Moreover, with facilities scattered worldwide, the solution needed to accommodate diverse layouts and requirements. Therefore, the client desired a dynamic monitoring system that could be displayed on large screens, updated automatically, and accessible from any personal computer.
Solution:
To address these challenges, Theoris devised a comprehensive solution leveraging cutting-edge technologies and custom application development:
- Data Capture and Storage: We implemented a Java REST API to capture and store all state change information in a database, ensuring accessibility to the application.
- Facility Configuration: Facility-specific configuration data was added to the database, allowing customization for each location’s unique layout and needs.
- Flex Application Development: We created a Flex application that utilized the configuration information to determine the placement and size of entities on the screen. The application also called the Java REST API retrieves the relevant state information for each entity.
- Real-Time Monitoring: The monitor displayed the current state of each test, prioritizing up to three states based on predefined criteria. It updated automatically and was viewable on large screens in hallways or accessible from any personal computer.
- Historical Data and Visualization: We incorporated a 48-hour historical graph. This provided utilization data and showcased test progress for running and non-running states. Additionally, we identified additional screens for different perspectives. This included an instant summary view grouping entities by state, and two report graphs presenting historical state information in bar and Pareto chart formats.
